The last time I bought the wife a new car(Polo) within days she reversed it into bollard creasing the plastic bumper and marking the hatch door.In the 5 years since then EVERY and I mean every panel on the thing has been replaced, some of them twice.
Last week we changed the car and got one of the new little Fiestas and today she reversed the &%$*#! thing into a post creasing the bumper and marking the door.

So in that case I would suggest she is a greater danger to others than the drivers of "thirsty german auto panzerwagons"?

And whilst on the subject of speed cameras and speed limits, it is always argued that speed cameras are put in place to protect pedestrians. Why not put up a barrier to stop little Johny running out in front of the car. Build a few bridges/underpasses to get the pedestrians accross the road and let the traffic MOOOOOVE.

A few years back there was an offence of JayWalking which discouraged pedestrians from jumping out in front of the cars. Could we have that back please. In our small town two pedestrian crossings were built within 50 mtres of each other in the main street but the pedestrains insist on dodging in between the traffic.

So in towns/villages the pedestrian should be restrained by a physical barrier ie fence from walking on the road because it is DANGEROUS.

Another thing. When I had fast cars my 911 Turbo was quicker to stop than a 1961 Morris Minor so why were we both restricted to 70 mph on Motorways?

The Driving test is obviously too easy, because I often find myself following a driver who
"In the 5 years since then EVERY and I mean every panel on the thing has been replaced, some of them twice."

Discuss?

Oh yes, I have one of those. Her record for the last 5yrs makes grim reading

Saab 9-5 Estate - rear end shunt + drowned in flood (despite me telling her not to go down that road) + stolen (coz she left the doors unlocked)
L-R Discovery - spun off road (several £'000's damage)
Honda CRV (No 1) - rear end shunt (written off, only 6 months old)
Honda CRV (No 2) - alllowed dog to chew up carpet on first day + n/s door dented (only 3 months old)

All cars brand new, makes you want to cry

What makes it worse is that she only drives to the school and supermarket and back, say 5000miles a year and then she has the gall to criticize my driving despite the fact that I do 30,000m a year and have an almost unblemished record

I rarely drive the car, so don't really take much notice, however after i have had the car SWMBO is very quick to point out that scratch there, that dent there, what have you been doing ???why is that tyre nearly bald. I only took it out of the drive !!!!!!

I have the sam problem.

Rangr Rover - Back door dameged, then other door, then front end hitting a hay bale.

Brand New ES Discovery, with active cornering to avoid problems, Rolled it in the wet, she blames car, when you look at the tyre tracks it was driver error.

New Freelander with payout from Discovery, currently still ok

P.S. The Discovery crash was my fault for getting 'The one with the big wheels and tyres!!!!

crash dummies

Hmmm. My swmbo has only ever had one crash. It was years ago, in a car worth praps £200 that we wanted to sell. Someone jumped a light and made a minor dent, and the insurers offered £400 so we took it and I repaired the dent with a mallet. We were tres skint and I was very pleased, I made her go thru lights all day in hope of a repeat. So now she drives a thirsty german auto panzerwagon and I'm bored of that too so hoping she can once again get it crashed into.

Personally, I have never crashed a car ever. Well, except while playing with the satnav, but I dont think that counts, does it?

Re:Panzerwagon (very non boaty)

Aha, this is why my insurance is so bloody high when I have 16 yrs no claims, which means I have never (touch wood) had an accident.

This is also why I would never buy a car that is listed in the ads as lady owner, that and the fact it has been running all it's life with incorrect tyre pressures, low old oil, low and never changed coolant, old wipers, low brake fluid, blown bulbs, and the clutch is generally on last rites, etc etc etc

I was promised at 25 my insurance would fall, then at 30 and it is still sky high, I talk to 45 year olds in work who insure for the price of a long distance telephone call, and I am still paying £500+ for my policy on a damn estate, I mean for gawds sake.......

soap box now put away /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Re:Panzerwagon (very non boaty)

Well I suppose I was a bit quick too.
In penance I will take a relaxed attitude to the Civic driver who will drive to the Ferry from Swanage at 20 MPH with no opportunity for me to overtake because the cars leaving the inbound ferry are coming towards me, and with no thought to the Ferry timetable and they will then get to the ticket booth and park too far a way from the Window and have to get out and look for change and I wll just miss the Ferry and miss 30 minutes on the boat, NO NO NO NO sorry cannot do this..............
