Why do I have a kedge anchor?

Are you suggesting that people do an Atlantic crossing, then upon arrival either immediately fly home, or set off across another ocean? Wouldn't be my idea of fun,

I wasn't aware that I was suggesting anything. I was asking a question.

My little motorsailer, due for launch on Monday, came with a CQR copy anchor that I sold on quite quickly, replacing it with a 10 kg Delta bought used from another forum contributor. Tomorrow I shall buy a kedge/second anchor. I am going to buy a new 10 kg Britany on the basis that it is cheap, good enough for the use to which I put a kedge and it will fit into one of the small cockpit lockers, which a Danforth/Guardian/Fortress would probably not. It will be on a short length of 8 mm chain and 14 mm Anchorplait. This should suit us very well for use mainly in Cardigan Bay.
