When you have a boat in a nice marina in the UK do you feel the need to go on a "Med" charter? Please don't say "The weather" because if the weather is that crap over here why would you have a boat in the first place.

Surely there must be other things in life to do on your jollies - or am I missing something?

I would put it like this....

If you were to charter in this country. you would be expecting to leave on a certain date.
There is a very good chance the weather window is closed, maybe for several days.
You are paying to stay in a marina.....Frustration!
In Croatia, Turkey, Greece etc almost certainly no problems
In addition to good weather and settled seas there is cheap food, good views and very possibly convivial company.

Why have a boat in a nice marina in the UK at all? If you keep her abroad, you will save money on moorings if nothing else.

Then to fill in gaps in your social calendar you can always charter at short notice in the UK. We have a huge variety of coasts, landscapes, and attitudes to explore around the UK, with charter providing a means to explore without having to move the boat long distances all the time.

Remember there are areas around the UK where you can just about guarantee being able to sail somewhere - no matter what the weather!
