Having left Lionel Blair and Charlie Brown country in 2001 I can only say after reading the posts on sculltwhatsit that there must be a touch of green jealousy. With the very odd exception the liveaboards we have met have been bloody good fun!!!!!
If you want to stay in a country that costs the earth to live in fine - but dont generalise with a subject that you obviously lacking in knowledge about.
My advice is go for it and enjoy life whilst you are able.

Soounds about right and a fair generalisation of folk who want to stay in a country that costs the earth to live in. Me? I "left" way back in 1980 and havn't looked back since - jeez 24 years ago doesn't time fly when one can enjoy one's self - sooner the sprogs finish school / uni the sooner the strings can be finally cut. Would agree that the majority of those stuck in the UK are either too afraid to make the move, are so wrapped up in themselves they have forgotten the "important things" in life or have put up with the crap in the UK it seems normal. Or there again perhaps other commitments keep them there.

Average british yachtsman.
A man woh keeps his boat in an area of few anchorages and 2 marinas per mile.
Driving for two hours to get to his boat for two days.........
Paying thousands for the berth one end.... And a morgage the other....

His perception of "grumpy" is suspect at best!

Where are ?

I'm confused. Although I'd suggest that live-a-lands are more likely to be grumpy than their liveaboard counterparts (just listen to the road traffic news and you have a starter for 10) I'd like to know how you liveaboards are contributing to the forum.

Are you all doing it from your cockpit with a mobile phone at vast cost, or via an internet caff or via wireless hotspot from your laptop ...

Is the liveaboard tied to the land to obtain access to the net perhaps ...?

a liveaboard is somone who likes living on a boat ,a house is just to great a contrast, who spends a lot of free time keeping their boat in good condition, and improvising
we are ecolgic solar power wind power in place of petrol and as for morgage and credit banks do not give to liveaboards.
and for internet we use a SSB with a thing attached which beeeppp beeeppps at another black or grey box hundreds or even thousands of miles away.
Winter is the best time when 80% of boats are closed up the sun shines but there isent the heat or the mosquitoes, when cafes reset there tarifs to local
and when the tailors or(one day)reflex explods into life and takes the chill off the evening sunset, british gin and French tonic in hand with anchovie given by italian or spanish fishermen and kept in oil over the hot summer,on flat bread made in a frying pan
