Why are Contessa 32's so loved

"In relation to the Twister (fine boats) I think 'designed' is overstating the process. 'Taking the Folkboat as a model and making it a bit bigger' is nearer the mark surely?"

No, taking the Stella and making it bigger would be more accurate. But the really clever bit was, he made it rate the same as the Stella.

No, the boat's all right, I just don't like its arse. Do you not find it a bit difficult going forward when the spray hood is up?

If you had a really decent boat however like wot we just sold, the sprayhood was only up in harbour. We could go upwind up to top of F5 and stay dry even at 7kts hard on the wind. Anyway who needs to go forwards when all the reefing and sail controls run to the cockpit, that's old fashioned that is...:D

My Co32 had all lines led aft :p

It's only her transom that is narrow, she has a wider cockpit than the Contessa, though not wide by modern standards. It does give her a longer waterline though:)

Only when we're beating in strong winds do we have the sprayhood up. But even in a F7 it can hardly be described as wet and leaving the cockpit is no trouble at all.

The transom might be a bit narrow, but it's a good locker back there:)
