Who's had any luck removing treadmaster from a GRP deck?

I painted mine, as it is still solidly stuck down and in good condition, except the faded brown colour.
I used Hempel deck paint 3 years ago which now needs to be recoated as it has worn off in small areas. Looks a lot better than the old treadmaster colour.

Mine was stuck down with epoxy and by using the power plane carefully and then a belt sander and a detail sander I can remove the decktread and all the glue with no damage whatsoever. Glued down with epoxy doesn't automatically mean damaged deck after removal unless one is really cack handed.

Presumably that only works on a smooth deck. My Treadmaster was stuck down over moulded diamond pattern non slip- where contact adhesive was used, it could be peeled off without damage, but where epoxy had been used it was impossible to avoid damage to the original pattern.

Did you use any primer or under-coat or just the top coat? I'm unsure whether to treat the treadmaster as GRP and use a primer/undercoat or just to go for the top coat.

I never used an under coat.Gave it a thorough wash down to remove any residue from oils or diesel, let it dry for couple of days then painted directy to the treadmaster. Put a tarp over each partition after painting, to prevent birds from leaving their addition.
