The cargo ship CEG Orbit has run aground off the north coast early this morning, near the Point of Ayre.
It was travelling from Liverpool to Belfast.
The crew of five are still onboard.
It is understood that attempts will be made to float it off on this afternoon’s high tide.

Well….it’s one way to get around border restrictions ?
 
According to AIS it did an odd set of manoeuvres and loop the loop between 22:30 and 23:20 last night.

But then it was going at constant bearing and constant speed (9.4kts) immediately prior to impact. Oops, as the OP suggests.

At least they didn’t actually hit the prominent lighthouse (per the usual sea myth about VHF dialogue between USS warship and lighthouse keeper)
