Disasters and the military

Ah the fun of the military where you don't have to pay for your mistakes. You do have to find someone else to blame though.
I remember a few years back the army had an exercise with armoured personel carriers with some pretentions at amphibious. They went for a water trip up the Swan River and seemed to manage to sink 2 of them in the same day and relatively close to one another. Indeed just over the river from my swing mooring. They fished the APC out the next day. Perhaps they should have closed certain hatches. It certainly wasn't rough water.

I lost my mainsail trimmer for Cork week and Cowes week to that incident. (The said person had to fly out to do the investigation which mucked up our race crew a bit..)

Less military but probably more devestating for the owner/skipper is the grounding of this little freighter on the island at the tip of Bequia.

Mind you I would like to have been a fly on the wall when he explained why he tried to make passage through this tiny gap.
