The owner appears to have had the means to call for help in the (several) hours after he got into difficulty and also appears to have had an anchor - yet he used neither means to stop his boat running ashore.
Very odd behaviour!!

In any case I'm not sure of the relevance of that remark in this case, it would have made no difference to his situation whatsoever.

I agree completely, not sure why the RNLI felt obliged to slip that observation into their report other than they maybe felt the need to say something that sounds far more important and knowledgeable than it actually is..... The problem with such things is that they have a habit of coming back and biting later, especially when misused to further a particular agenda.
