who was the first forum

Probably Hugh Nightingale, back in early 2001, met up and sailed new boat back to Northney, (both wives said we could be mad axe murderers) or was it Nigel Luther before that?. Since then - lots, sailed with a fair few, met a lot more. Gona be doing a fair few miles with some of 'em this year!!!

The Poole/RNLI meet organised by Chuns ...

... back around 1999. Met about 20 regulars for the first time, including Karl, Kim's predecessor as the YBW webmaster. I'm not sure whether anyone else who was there is still a regular here now. But some are still good friends.

1997 - Well before Scuttlebutt - Cruising World

Met our cousins in Annapolis at the boat show CWBBer's parties - Negotiated a 15 day return ticket with BA Gatwick/BWI for UKL 99.99 for 5 years and UKL 129.99 till last October .... Met Andrew Bray (YW) 3 times (Got upgraded to Club class every time going out and coming back.)

Took advantage of BA's other sailors offers and raced out of Annapolis and Newport sometimes even on Wednesdays - Me arriving to crew blew our cousin's minds .... What they didn't realise was that it was cheaper to sail/race in the USA than to sail UK west coast /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

First UK people met : JJ, Peter B, Twister Ken, pvb, and a whole host of mainly fine people /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

End result of posting on CWBB - 4 Atlantic crossings; USCG Captaincy [mucho more recognised than RYA Ocean /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif - The RYA have done themselves a disservice] ... and n factorial paid for deliveries on both sides of the pond.

Recruited JMIrvine as a crew, Inverness to Dover. Motored into light headwinds almost the whole way. I think I put him off cats for life.

Met so many I can't keep count. Must have been the mob at the 1st Wareham meet from memory.

No you didn't !

I sailed a Fountaine Pajot 38 from La Rochelle to Lanzagrotty in the spring after our trip. Flat calm across Biscay, and we had to go into Camarinas for more diesel. We didn't have much wind after that either apart from one afternoon approaching Cascais.

I also remember us being rummaged on that trip by the local customs in Boulogne and having a very nice meal ashore at night.
