This morning's Inshore Waters Forecast broadcast on BBC R4 Long Wave at about 0540 BST:
[ QUOTE ]
From St. Catherine's Point to Lands End.
Wind: west or southwest 4 or 5, occasionally 6, perhaps 7 for a time
late afternoon in Dover Straits
scattered showers.
Visibility: good.

That would be the apparent wind generated by the Straits moving to the west of the Needles. We saw something very large moving in the murk off Plymouth yesterday. Maybe that was it.

Expect inreased shipping, blue birds and white cliffs imminent in all sea areas

Shurely shome mishtake ...

Wind speed recorded by sandettie 22kn at 0900 UTC and 59kn at 1000 ... wave height 1.6ft & 1.3ft respectively. Pressure about same. Must get lonely on that light ship "ooh what does this knob do .. ?"

Crikey - 1100 showed 81 knots and 1200 13 knots. What is going on? Did anybody see the Sandettie L/S as it sped past The Lizard?
