RIP
This will make you smile.
Quite a few of us were sitting in the Marquee last night at Ashmount. Looking down river some Navigation Lights hove into view which quite surprised everyone because it was well after the time the Locks had been turned off and usually at that time of night the only boats moving up here are unlicensed NBs with no Nav Lights.
It was Margaret. She and her sidewinder (Sheila) had brought the boat up from Sonning and finding all moorings taken had decided to press on to Ashmount through the night.
Of course there were many yells about 2 old biddies on a boat and suggestions that White Panther be renamed the Biddy Broom. And even questions on whether there was a third old lady locked in the lavatory. Secretly we were all impressed at the bottle of these two grand old ladies. She brought the boat alongside beautifully solely on her engines then announced they would join us for a Jar once they had eaten their evening meal which I assumed they had cooking as they travelled along.
Truly Margaret is a remarkable lady, Sheila too who runs a Princess 35, they both refuse to be hindered by the fact they are widows and enjoy life to the full.
