Ah, cant expert me to work much after 4.00 on a Friday!
Any thoughts on the smaller Nova's,and whats the difference between the 310 and 320 please?
Sorry for the absence!
Nimbus have a habit of renaming their boats every few years and the same boat seems to be “bigger” because they now measure total length including every bit of the boat.
So, the 310 became the 320 and the 370 became the 380.
The hulls and superstructure are the same, but the engines will be possibly different and the trim improved.
The Nimbus website is very good and you can look at the specifications of the older models. Do that and you will see the beam is the same as is the displacement; the “extra” length is misleading.
Have spent 3 months researching the 320 and 310. The lessons learnt is that they are the same boat with minor tweaks and a slightly better spec. The 320 is quite cramped compared tothe 345, so is a bit sticky in resale (deal to be had) But is a great boat. I want one ...as any boat, but swmbos need convincing.
320 in 2000 - 2003 also may have had issue with hull delaminating from superstructure[several cases believed and ALL covered under Warranty]...but do you want the hassle.
I love them, would have one..want one...
As I also want a new Montecarlo, Z34, S34, S37, S38...etc.
The superstructure is a seperate structure and is bolted to the hull, so not sure what you mean by delaminating?
I had a few water leaks from this joint on my 345, and these were fixed under warranty.
Well I'm not greedy so I'd be quite happy with a 230 or 250R - think they relly look the part - could probably get those up the Avon to Stratford but performance might frighten the anglers /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif.
Don't agree - far too 'whizzy whizzy' for my likeing. Won't work well on either of my two main browsers, Netscape and Explorer. From the "History of Nimbus" it seems they've always tried to be in the forefront of Internet information - they started their site in 1994. Still, not much use doing this, if many of us are unable to view.
On the boats themselves: Really pleased with my new - last June - 'Familia'. This as many will know is an aft cabin version based on a '280' hull. Is this still in production though I wonder? Not sure from what my on-line researches reveal.
Had a look at the 380 commander at the boat show and was really impressed. Not just in the build quality but with the layout. So many places to hide from the kids when onboard.
Really got me thinking after looking at the more traditional flybridges. Has anyone got any thoughts as to the performance with D4's.
Not sure about D4's, but mine had KAD43's and that was fine. We could hit 28 knots fully loaded and cruised at 20-22 knots most of the time.
D4's give an extra 30hp per engine but are they more heavy or lighter than the KAD43's?
2 Months ago I would have jumped at opportunity. I am now going to sell the 23HT through Sea Ventures and then buy a boat with cash. I won't rule yours out yet though as I have priced mine to sell quick and we have interest already.
Thanks Jim. What fuel consumption where you getting cruising at 20-22 knots ? I currently run Kad 43's in my cranchi and love the relative simplicity of them i.e no edc or evc having had problems with edc's on kad44's on my previous boat. I am therefore somewhat apprehensive about D4's particularly if there is no great gain on performance and fuel consumption. To keep it simple it may be better to stick with kad43's on a 380 as the performance figures are more than adequate. Any further comments on the 380 greatly received.
Paul good luck with the sale. if you need any info re Z34, regardless of whether mine is of interest or not dont hesitate to pm me
cheers
