About half way down they specifically say that the warning light cable clips onto the F or DF connector on the alternator.

A well known company that I bought a charge controller say its the '61' or D+ connector.

I have attached the cable to both, the alternator works (charges) on the F connector, but fails to switch off the lamp (it flickers)

On the '61' connection, the alternator does not charge, and certailnly does not switch of ther warning lamp.

Getting a bit confused to say the least. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

As TB does say there is no universal code.
BUT
looking at the diagrams I have for Bosch and SEV alternators with external regulators

61 on the alternator, the output from the field diodes, is connected to D+ on the regulator and the warning light.

F on the alternator is the connection to the field winding (Via slip ring and brush)and is connected to DF on the regulator.

on that basis Tony Brooks is wrong, your supplier is right!

Disconnect your new charge controller and check that the alternator works correctly with its original regulator with the warning lamp connected to 61/ D+

If it does not get it checked. The field diodes may have gone or the regulator may be faulty.

(Not all alternators have field diodes though! The SEV one I am looking at does not although the connections are marked the same as the Bosch one that does)
