Checked the weather and we are off to the Channel Islands for a fortnight.

Plan on departing Lymington early Saturday morning for Alderney as a first stop. Will keep an eye out for other forumites on route and hopefully have our burgee sewn back up by the time we arrive.

Anyone else crossing?

Pete and Viv

Winds look like they may be all over the place, but mainly southerly. according to Passageweather.com.

Good luck, and hope you have better weather than we had!

We'll be boarding Tigger on Saturday in Falmouth and hope to head off towards S Brittany at some point - hoping for a reasonable weather window to slip pas the Four and the Raz de Sein.

Anyone else in that area? PM me your MMSI number and can try to get in touch on the water.

Obi-Wan is stuck in Fecamp, while SWMBO is getting crew n°1 from his dad in Brussels (it's our week this week). And just now the weather is perfect for the jump to Cherbourg and Alderney.

We have to be back in Cherbourg on Thursday, so that SWMBO can shuttle back to Brussels to hand over crew n°1 to his dad.

I can't do passage planning with these constraints. Aaaargh

Yes I am crossing this weekend but heading the other way. Leaving Cameret early Sunday and heading north up the Du4 if the current NW wind eases off a bit. Wed/Thu/Fri next week look light variable or northerly winds so I hope to be back in Portsmouth by then.

Crossed from Lymington to Cherbourg on Thursday - F5/6 just fwd of the beam - bloody horrible swell. Everything got covered in salt. Saw a basking shark in the shipping lanes. First time SWMBO and I have crossed as just the two of us. Cherb to St Vaast Friday afternoon, quite pleasant sail.

Now sitting in the boat bored with watching the rain. Tomorrow a dead run to Ouistreham or Deauville is the plan.

Leaving tomorrow (Sunday) morning for Cherbourg - if'n the weather be good - I don't much fancy the forecast southerly....maybe Alderney or more likely St Vaast.

We came back from Cherbourg on Saturday (yesterday)...A grey day with just too little wind to sail and when there was some wind the swell knocked it out of our sails, didn't fancy bobbing around for more time than we had to, so we motorsailed....we did get some sailing in though....from Bembridge to Portsmouth, in the rain, during the last few hours I started aching a lot, last night I couldn't decide whether I was too hot or too cold or both, now I have flu.

A crossing I would like to forget. Woke up onboard to bright sunshine this morning wondering who upstairs we'd up set. It was a damp end to what had otherwise been a good couple of weeks away...ho hum :)

Well, we're aiming to cross southern biscay later this week- off to la Rochelle tomorrow to pick up a friend and then waiting for a good window to Bilbao....

You may be reassured to know that after several weeks of pretty pleasant weather I had to put on jumper and woolly socks today on our passage to Ile d'Yeu. Yesterday was pissing down with rain- at least today was dry, if not sunny. Hopefully it will get warmer again shortly
