Pop yerself down to the French customs office and tell them that you'd like to be picked up by a private boat to go to England, they will say, no problem and give you a letter to give to the English Customs people.

Which port?

Ian

try Calias (sp?) they have really big motor boat yachts that go to UK all the time.

now let me think what are they called.............................Ferries!:D

dont forget you EU Passport:rolleyes:, and they will take all your mates as well!

Dear Katandgreen,
Please excuse the facetious responses, there are those on here who have deeply suspicious minds. It should actually be possible to pick up a lift from a marina, but you will, of course require full documentation as explained.

Anyone caught bringing an illegal immigrant into the UK will lose their boat and their liberty, so you will need to convince your lift that you are legitimate - and report to immigration when you land. You will also need to trust your lift even more than you might a car driver who offers a lift.

I reckon you should write
'The Hitchiker's Guide to the Channel See'
See, I dunno whether the OP's post is a wind up or whether it's a language thing.
The Post did come across a bit 'Nigerian' if yer gets me drift!

Good luck ter the feller if it is genuine.
Hitched a few rides me sen on water and land in the past.

Ford Prefect once.
Never did find the answer though
Was it 42?
Just read 'The Salmon of Doubt' by Douglas Adams.

No sign of a Doubting Thomas.
More on here in that respect

Good, Searush to pop a reply in here of that nature.
But bleedin H
It was a Post that begged the previous replies

and report to immigration when you land.

Does this actually happen in practice?

I've been across the channel a couple of times and never had to show any documentation. In fact, the first time I tried to find an "immigration officer" but was told there wasn't any!

Probably not, but I would like to be able to show I had made the effort as well as having all the correct papers. UKBA do not always seem to be the most tolerant of people do they?
