Managed to avoid the ceremonies, although we did come back upriver as the lock gates were opening!

Told the lads in the rib that there was a 6 knot speed limit! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Yeah, but there is loads of mud on the East Coast! This is what happened last time I dried on mud.

I saw you, and you are not wrong, it was as green as grass, was it parked under a tree?
By the way the sausages were excellent, and Michaela Stachan fragrant, but a bit scrawny, so didn't have a nibble /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

A bit scrawny /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I didn't want to spoil my memories of a young Michaela, so avoided getting close!

The boat belongs to a friend who decided that deliberatly keeping it looking scruffy might keep away the kids/thieves/etc. Mine is on the next mooring and nice and clean. He had his tender nicked, mine has been left alone.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Did you see his engine conk out just before we got back to the mooring? Got to post on PBO about that one!

Don't get time to read it at work. I am too conscientious. So I waited until today to post to say that I didn't.

I'm a bit frightened of posting on ECF though. In case I get told off.

It's a very informative forum. Example: The Harwich Harbour works post. Good stuff.

Well I do.
I'm what used to be known as a 'Push bike Greaser'. i.e I've got the kit but not the bike. I'm ashore in Maldon (so feel a bit qualified) for another three years or so restoring a 1912 gaff yawl.
Seems a friendly forum - hope you will be so when I finally get afloat and need a bit of experience.

You might like to have a chat with oldsalt sometime...he has a similar project or victorious who has launched his! there's a vid on here somewhere about the latter.

Went for a walk with SWMBO to view the new great works..and saw your boat..third down river from the swing bridge.

The big ketch downriver from you has been vandalised quite a bit judging from the smashed windows and boarding, which is a bit sad. SWMBO and I mused about how long it would be before the new lock area would be similarly defaced.

We like the new ship buffer at the lock entry, thats an impressive looking piece of kit with its chains and what look like hydraulic shock absorber.

There was one at about the same location some time ago that had been vandalised and sunk on its mooring, so unless they do something to secure the place a bit better I would expect the little shiites to do everything they can with a new target

Even though the Thames forum is my normal spot, my folks live in Brightlingsea and go sailing with the old man regularly so find the East Coast forum useful for the local knowledge.

I never read it. I just got hoodwinked by that post about the Felixstowe South Regeneration Project and now I seem to be trapped here. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
