Whittingtons Tea Barge

Well Stevie me old mucker, I ain't sure this posting is allowed. I'm not deleting it but don't be surprised if one of the other 'Mods' do.

Found it cos a facebook friend had posted his "location". Did a bit of research on how good it was and quite impressed. Don't see any problem - a few (and quite frequent) posts answering queries about good food stops on the Thames - Flowerpot, Shillingford Bridge, Benson Cafe, the Trout, Rose Revived, etc

My feelings too which is why it ain't been touched. ;)

The barge is closed on Mondays and Teusdays and now Wednesdays too(due to bridge works). It is surrounded by some unsavoury looking liveaboards and the moorings ahead of it are restricted due to the construction of the foot bridge. I've been moored by it for the past 24 hours and we're just about to head off. The local hoodies visiting the liveaboards have put me off returning.

There is a lot of work being done to the old bridge in Reading. I was disgusted to see the workman chop out old concrete sections and send them crashing into the river below. I hope the council fancies paying for a spot of dredging.
