If it is the one I think it is it has been for sale for the best part of two years. Never understood why because it looks like a load of boat for the money, quite pretty too.
Surfacedrivetom not going to make an appearance on this forum then? /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I have to say, having had a look it looks like a lovely boat. Nice internals and still looks good out side. Much better looking than the Rivatek IMHO - for under £90k a good buy I would have thought
Check main window installation for possible leaks, was not happy with Westerley novel fixing method. There was also problems with avaiability of some units due to the boat being 24 volt, one was light bulbs from memory, they were having to buy light units. But build and woodwork was good.
They only made a few, we had just finished the switchgear design when they bust.
Rally Sure ... have enough with one boat .... and yes... born in Stavanger June '63 and spent the majority of my life over there ... have been out of the country for the majority of the last 16 years though...
/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif is cheaper over here ,.... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Know absolutely nothing about them but she looks a lot of good quality boat for the money. I think the UK thing of 'knowing the brand' is artificially dropping the price (although westerly well known to raggies! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif). I bet in the Med she would easily fetch Euro175k.
I will be interested in seeing what you think of her in the flesh!
It got good reports when it was first introduced but as you know only a few were built before Westerly went tits up. I looked at one a few years ago and it was certainly big. The saloon is almost square and the inside helm seat was a proper pilot seat but I remember not liking the suede effect wall linings
These are big heavy boats and even the Cat3208 425hp engines have to work hard to push them along. I remember crossing the channel in company with one and it struggled to maintain 22knots. You might not think thats too much of a prob but it does mean that the fuel consumption will be high especially as the Cats are known to like a drink
The other issue is the Cat engines themselves. They are known to be bombproof but that applies more to the lower power rated units (320/375hp). The 425hp units are reputed to need rebuilding after 10-15yrs especially when they've been worked hard as they will have been in the WW46. If they have'nt already had a rebuild, then check them out v carefully including an oil analysis. Btw, a rebuild could cost £20k a side
For a bit more money you could get a Princess 45 which is a better boat, a classic IMHO, and it should be much easier to sell on when you want rid
I remember well that there was a major 'dropping' incident in Earls Court with one of these at the London boatshow....I recall it did quite a lot of damage not just to underwater gear but also to the structure and the gelcoat.
Maybe its been on the market for 2 yrs 'coz nobody wants to buy that kind of boat. A Prinnie 45 may be more expensive but you'll get your money back when you sell it

Yep, another good point. And I don't dissagree. What I meant was the gap to a prinny might be quite a bit (£50k?) and if you haven't got it, you haven't got it.
Looked at one at Levington on the Orwell a year or so ago. Lot of boat for the money - this one had bright yellow leather in the saloon which wasn't really our thing /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Build quality seemed Ok but it just seemd to lack that certain something.....
Not sure if it sold or not or if it the same one you are going to look at.
Good solid boat but worth a lot less than the well known makes, watch out for the cat engines get a survey on them as i have just done some work on a pair in a broom, i am now rather richer to say the least. The injection pumps give problems 3K A SIDE ! thats was just to repair them plus my labour.Good hunting
