White smoke from diesel engine

Once upon a time, I was going to Bembridge on a cool, humid (presumably) day with no wind, and was somewhat alarmed to find my boat pursued by a white cloud of steam (or, possibly, water droplets).
Engine was functioning normally, it was just that the exhaust contains a fair amount of water vapour (from burned fuel, and also from cooling water being warmed and some of it vaporising). It was just that weather conditions favoured some of the vapour condensing to form the white cloud. Bit of a panic before I realised this.

thank you all for informing me and others thats rubber seals do fail and allow s/w into the fresh w/side. I asked because any newcomer reading the item may take it as gospel and waste a lot of time and money looking for this fault, when he/she may have over filled their f/w coolant system. thanks again.
