I had my sails checked and cleaned last winter but unfortunatly a "friend" stepped on my boat in sailing wellies that looked more like Farmer Gyles old comfy wellies!

My No 1 Genoa is now looking a tad grubby.

I've thought about throwing it in the bath with a couple of persil non bio tabs, but I'm not sure whether this will have an adverse effect on the sail!

Does anyone have any good suggestions on keeping sails whiter than white?

Keep the farmers on their tractors and not on our boats /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I have been told the vanish type powders are good ,just put the sail in luke warm water with the powder added and leave to soak until the water is cold, rinse and go.

Theres nothing wrong with farmers on boats, as long as they don't bring the sheep.
Pull that sheep in a bit tighter....

I had this advice when I joined the club use an old fashioned gentle washing powder eg Lux. as anything more powerful rots the stiching. Soak overnight in the bath, agitate a couple of times and rinse well. I have done this ever since and i am happy with the advice. Watch any metal bits on the bath.
