Fair enough, I was ashore at Portscatho when the crew of ' Drum ' were hoiked to safety after the keel fell off, though that's a whole other story...

My boat had red antifouling for one season and I think looked awful, but there's no harm in a red or pink bit in the normally invisible central bit of the underside, anything which might help as Plan B !

I'd reckon ones' hood and shoulders are the bits which show if a person is in the water...

My point being that the bladder of an inflated lifejacket will cover the shoulders of the wearer, hence the colour of the foulies being irrelevant.

...a good point - and my life jacket bladders are fluro yellow... having said that - you've got to be wearing it in the first place, and that's a whole different campaign...

This is the same as the debate about strobe lights on lifejackets - flashing lights catch the eye but make it much harder to estimate distance/speed and so on.

I am not a fan of flashing lights at night on a bicycle - although you could make the argument that they are useful in the daytime.
