Hi,

I have a Beneteau Antares 710 that had years of scuffs ad marks, even paint, oil etc. The deck surface is slightly stippled which made it hard to remove some deep engrained stuff, but I managed to do it! Used some cutting compound and the deck is now free of any marks and dirt. I have sourced some nice 5mm draining PVC decking which I will make a template and cut to size in order to not go through the heavy cleaning of the original deck again.
Anbody any thoughts on marine products - long lasting sealant/wax? Maguiars and 3M anybody used their products?

Appreciated

Harry

I’ve used 3M wax or Autogly polish and resin to good effect keeping GRP clean but I wouldn’t want to polish the decks and make them slippery. A regular wash-down with fairy liquid kept the textured deck of may last boat clean, and when anything became too ingrained for that to work, a scrub with a stiff brush shifted it.

Thanks, this boat never had a good deep clean of the deck. I really brought it back to original state. A good seal with 3M wax should do the job. there will be no traffic as such directly on deck as I will have the PVC decking, so on power washing at end of season with decking removed there should be no stubborn footware marks to remove. Less elbow work in the future!

Thanks for the info..

Harry

I use Starbrite non-skid deck cleaner on my Antares 10.8. It does a decent job and only requires a hose down now and again between treatments.
