White Diesel on the Orwell?

A straight lock in and out is easier than a turnabout from a fuel pontoon....

Academic I suspect, as i'll be surprised if Shotley don't go for white... Too many boats that do travel outside of UK waters.

I emailed Shotley today. Got a lengthy and very helpful and informed response from John.

They are very aware of what's happening, are investigating the supply of FAME free white and he doesn't anticipate any particular difficulty in providing white if it makes sense.

I would therefore agree with Neil's sentiment.

3. Woolverstone could also be a possibility provided they get rid of that speedbump you can encounter at LW. But Woolverstone would be even further upriver to travel for Shotley boats.

.

Speed bump will be gong this year when the next phase of marina development starts, as will the fuel barge to be replaced by a fuel pontoon.

As for using SYH, chances of me ever giving that lot any of my money are nill.

Do you row out of the lock?

If it was good enough for the Romans ... :D:D

Where are the fuel tanks at Woolverstone? When the barge is replaced by a pontoon will they have to move or replace the tanks? If so it would be a good opportunity for them to start to supply White instead of, or as well as, Red. We berth at Woolverstone so have a good deal of self interest

The fuel tanks are adjacent to the 'well stocked' () chandlery building. However one of the wind cats seemed to be regular visitor to the fuel pontoon last season so they may well have an interest in retaining red.

Also had an email from John at Shotley today.

Looks like the situation is still a bit complicated, in that there isnt a fame free white wholesale supplier yet on the east coast.

Shotley sound like they recognise that they'll need to switch to white though, and may well need a new tank from John's comments.

As usual, a fast and thorough response from Shotley though with evidence that they are on the ball.

Shotley could easily put a new surface tank next to the existing one.... You can get a 10,000 litre tank complete with pump and metered dispensing hose for under £5k....

If they were to do that they would certanly get my buisness and I would think a lot of others in the area.
