Hy Guys,

I have an 'old' new generator that I am trying to install. It came with boat, new and unused but not fully installed. Part of the kit is an external capacitor box and capacitor. In general I think I know what it is for (excitation) but I cannot figure out how/where to connect it.

Any Whisper gurus about here that might know?

I can't find any documentation pertaining to the installation of the capacitor/external box directly. There is mention of the capacitor in the install and user manuals but not how it's connected. It is 'partially' shown in a wiring diagram but not specifically where it should be wired to.

Maybe it's optional but I don't think so, if my excitation assumption is correct. I think the capacitor was externalised to improve reliability, from what I've read. Anyway, currently I'm stumped so any help at all would be appreciated.

Edited to say, perhaps the idea is to 'move' the capacitor from the internal control box to a remote location?

Edited again. There are four capacitors within the internal control box, all unsecured, 2uF, 4uF, 20uF & 30uF, all wired to the same points. I'm guessing then that the external box is simply used to house these, remotely wired.

Cheers,
Mike.
