I am a non-owning occasional sailor who is seeking some kinda social life nr to Brentwood. Anyone have any suggestions as to which is a good sailing club to join? Based on personal experience ideally............
Jim,
you will have to define your interest a bit better.
Racing Yachts?
Racing Dinghies, if so, which type?
Cruising?
DIY?
Classic/Wooden boats?
There are many clubs with good social calendars, but you really need to
define what you want from the Club.
For instance, I am a member at Royal COrinthian Burnham, which is predominantly Dinghies and Keelboats like Dragons, and a loose Cruising section. Lots of socials but mostly devoted to their little interest group.
I also belong to Roach Sailing Asociation, which is a lovely group into Wooden boats mostly, and very much self help.
Hi FullCircle - areas of interest are Cruising, Racing Yachts and I'd like to get my young kids into racing dinghies (none specified right now). Does that narrow it down?!
Yep, try the Royal Corinthian at Burnham ( I am a member there). They have:
Class 1 and 2 boats Yacht racing
Cruisers who also occasionally race, but mainly pottering
707s
Dragons,
Squibs
Royal Corinthian 1 designs
Cadets for kids
Optimists for kids
As I Brizzle fan I can't really be seen to be helping a B**h fan. However, Thorpe Bay Yacht club has a great cadet section and also has its own Oppys and Picos with a very good social element.
