Hello,
which of the two thimbles would be preferable for a dyneema eye to be used with a pin? The load will be inline, no movement.
Overall sizes of the two thimbles are basically identical, the pin (shown on the right) diameter is about 1/3 of the internal open thimble width.
The open one material is possibly powder coated steel, the contact thimble/pin will theoretically be over a single point. The yellow thimble is light alloy; I can square the hole walls in the eye so the pin will bear against a semi-cylindrical surface.
It will not be for a permanent fixture so if the pin scratches the paint on the black one, it will not have the time to rust.
I am inclined to use the yellow one, any reasons not to?
