which Telescopic tiller extension - for cruising

Hi all
can you recommend a good telescopic tiller extension for my 32' cruiser

I've had a 'Friend' for about ten years now, still perfectly happy with it, although the Sadler 34 is not a boat on which you need it very often, as the cockpit is designed for cruising. There was a 2006 thread on the subject here with some more options.

My 4 tiller steered boats all had Spinlock adjustable tiller extensions; the sort with a meaty handle so you can keep control on a hairy kite reach.

Spinlock

I have had a Spinlock on my last two boats and it's still a great bit of kit. There are two different styles of handle and are available in different lengths to suit your normal helming position.

There are cheaper alternatives but for something that you will use every single time you are sailing paying for quality does ultimately give better value.

Also rather taken by the spinlock deck but I'm working up to that.....

Tiller extension

I sailed with a friend the other day and he mentioned how much he paid for his extension. It was called "Battle Stick" it was not telescopic but did have a rubber device in the hinge so that it sprung upward vertical when let go. I did not like that aspect. My extension is just a bit of Al tube with a Tee handle glued across the top and a universal joint at the tiller. It folds back into a clip on the tiller when not needed.
I simply cut it to a length that suits me when helming (clinging to the gunwhale)
Sure the ladder type for big boats are nice but for the price no. (short arms deep pockets) olewill
