All things being equal and given the same boat but with two different set ups I am interested to know which is regarded as the most difficult to handle and hence needs the best Helmsmanship ??

a) Single engine
or
b) Twin engine with bow thruster

??

Well if the only way to get a useful answer (JVII excepted) is to explain then ......

when I was a kid Dad had twin engines and I remember that it was easy to bring the boat alongside without any problems. Drive the boat like a tank - one forward and the other reverse.

Anyway when I got my boat with only a single - it was much harder to put the boat alongside. I wondered is it that twins are easy or is it that 20 years ago and rose tinted specs, makes me THINK it was easy in the "old days" with twins.

bit like F1 with all the gizzmos making it easier to drive - less overall skill required but still great skill on the bits that are left to the driver. Hence these days F1 is boring, as long as the driver does nothing stupid the car will do the rest !!

Can answer fron the point of marking in competitions.

The judge efectively marks down competitors with 2 engines and bow thrusters to level the running with the single engine entrants because of the increased manourverability. That being said I know people that can make any combination sing and dance in any conditions. And before you all get the testosterone flood some of them are ladies, it's all in the touch.

ChrisP ;o))))))

What do you mean the sea gull in front's walking !!!

Boat moving: tell us more!

Ooh i am always dead interested/afriad of these boat manoevring comps. Cos with our boat see, I do THAT, then THIS and then ooh it worked again.

1 Do they use their own boats?

2 I can slot out boat between two others stern-to with foot each side AFTER having had loads of drinks. Is this much kop, or rubbish?

3 is ther an eqiv of a "donut" like whamming around the boat wioth the nose flaing athigh speed and then karump spinning up to a berth a foot wider? Spose i'm, reallty asking.. are ther any stuntmen/women?

Re: It\'s not an \"oxy\" F***WIT!

For once your grasp of the English language has let you down - I was not calling you a moron - Hence I will treat your reply as ignorant and not offensive.

ox·y·mo·ron Pronunciation Key (ks-môrn, -mr-)
n. pl. ox·y·mo·ra (-môr, -mr) or ox·y·mo·rons
A rhetorical figure in which incongruous or contradictory terms are combined, as in a deafening silence and a mournful optimist.

Hence if they are the Same - how can one be easier ??

Now put your toys back in. Please.
