Which SJCAM action camera?

I would like to buy one of these SJCAM action cameras but realise that there are many models. SJ4000, SJ4000plus, SJ5000, SJ5000plus, with wifi or not etc, etc. I can see all there specs in the internet but trying to decide which is best to buy. From my understanding it’s either the SJ5000 plus or the SJ4000 plus. I am mainly interested in videos (sailing, diving etc), less for still pictures. Anybody who has first-hand experience with any of the SJCAM models that can give a good recommendation?

I went with the SJCAM 5000x elite. I wasnt too sure which one to go with either, so I went with their latest top end model as I was swayed by the Sony sensor that the camera uses.

However, as I have only ever used it in 1080p the sj4000 plus probably would have sufficed. The one feature that I do really like is the wifi element. This allows you to use your phone or tablet to see what the camera is looking at and to control its settings. This is very useful for when the camera is mounted. I have to say I have been really impressed by the quality, given that it is a budget version of a go-pro. It also came with a lot of mounts too which is useful. All in all, very impressed with the cam especially given the price.

I think you have to get the genuine SJCAM there appear to be a lot of fake fakes out there. There was quite a good thread a while back.

These 4000+, 5000+ etc are all genuine.

TBH, reading the specs and reviews, I have still not understood if the Sony sensor is only for still pictures only or videos too.

Surely there's only one sensor in the device? (Not that I know anything about specifics.)

I've got a 5000 ... adequate both in video and pics but too wide angle I think for everyday happy snap stuff.

I'm pleased with the SJ4000Wifi. Good quality, I now have plugged into the ship's battery to leave it running hour after hour; I think it will last for over 3 hours before it starts to overread (would need to check up on that exactly). I added a motorcycle waterproof case so that it plugs into the ship's battery and retains waterproof - although going underwater would need the standard waterproof case (which comes with it). It is important to get a genuine SJ.
