I want to buy my dad a traditional looking good quality brass ships clock for christmas. Given my location I will have to make the order over the net or by phone so difficult to judge the quality.

Can anyone recomend a decent quality product?

Cheers.

The FCC 160mm Brass ship's clock is nice here

but my preference for instruments is for schatz from here and preferrably the battery driven version

I also like the Shatz, but for me I like the traditional wind up version that uses the eight bells chime. I've had mine for about 7 yrs now and wouldn't change it. Cheers, Mike.

Our boat came with Plastimo ones. That is not a brand to which I would normally give the time of day but it has turned out to be one of the best timepieces I have ever known - something around 1 minute / year. It also looks pretty good.

The ships-bells one is mounted at home.
