Which roller for antifoul primer and paint?

I use a 4 inch premium foam for gloss ...say 7 or 8 quid for ten ..maybe I get through 2 or three on 35 ft boat.
Some are recommended for varnish which might work too. I have seen 6 inch rollers with solvent approval..they are about 5 quid each in Force 4 chandlery.
I suspect it depends in the a.foul composition too.

Are the roller that you have old? The foam ones break up more if they are older. I tend to use the small rollers for the (possibly mistaken) belief that I lose less of the mixture in the roller. Doesn’t take much longer at all.

Ordinary "mohair" rollers from B&Q. Cheapest they have, not the very dense ones. One roller does a coat then dispose.

Having tried different rollers I am looking for the one that does not disintegrate because of the solvent or leave lumps of fluff as it falls apart. Foam, mohair, etc?

Or am I trying too hard.

All answers gratefully received.

7" mohair on a pole works for me. Wrap in a shopping carrier bag to expel air & it will then do the next coat too

Mohair for me too.
If you want to keep it for the next coat, cling film or a plastic bag, or a trick I learned ages ago working as a student for a painter: put the roller in a bucket of water, and next day roll it out on a piece of cardboard.
