Just looking at adding one of the Navonics apps to my phone (seem to get decent reviews on the while)

All of my sailing is UK based coastal.

The two options are for UK and Hollland Or Europe (Europe actually being cheaper.)

Have a look at the coverage - I don't think Europe covers the whole of UK. We may be part of the EU but Navionics don't consider us geographically so.

Make sure you keep your receipt - Navionics apps are notoriously hard to port across when you get a new phone and their customer service leaves a whole lot to be desired - they will want you to provide a receipt.

Their attitude is that it is a one time purchase and tough luck.

Yet another reason to have an iPhone rather than one of those weird android things.

:) Bless you, the dedication of the iClones to use any opportunity to knock non-i devices never fails to iMpress.

The issue is really a very shoddy attitude to customers by Navionics. But it boosts profits making people buy twice. :( grrrr

The fact is still that with iTunes once you have bought your APP you can generally use it with any apple phone pod or pad that's registered to you.

True. The apple store platform stops companies blatantly trying to get paid twice for the same product. Google need to step up their game a little.

Before you fork out for the Navionics charts take a look at 'GPS Nautical Charts, from the UKHO. I have both progs on an Asus Transformer 101 and an Galaxy S3, whilst the Navionics works reasonably well, the GPS prog is more like a conventional Chart Plotter, I went down to Demoisselle today and compared both the GPS system for me has better charts is half the price of the Navoinics and does the job better. Take a look on Play store

P.s no connection to GPS just a happy bunny with the products

If you buy the Navionics package it's worth paying the £2.99 extra for the route add on. It gives all the usual XTE/TTD/VMG information a plotter would. Also the latest HD Navionics app has free chart updates for life - may just be the Apple version though as they seem to have different user rights.

The Google Play Store also allows you to install on all devices you own - took me by surprise when I bought my Samsung tablet and found that all the applications I had purchased for my smartphone were also available to install on it. It is specifically Navionics that seem to take steps to block multiple installations.
