Which marina would you choose?

I was in Lymington for 3 years before moving to France and imho it's the best place around the solent. Easy access to open sea, and a lovely town. Road traffic getting out on sunday night was a bit rubbish though, however you could cut west a bit and avoid the crowd heading for M27/M3 ?

Yep, we like Lymington as a town, we took the last boat to the Town Quay when it was quiet & out of season (they said they allowed up to 36ft LOA if I remember, so 38ft wasn't pushing it too much, we didn't tell them it was 20ft wide as well!).

I seem to remember getting passed Lyndhurst was an issue, going west and using the A roads northbound is quite slow in summer I think.

Will ask what the charges are and check if they have space.

Yup, chocabloc traffic around Lyndhurst in Summer. I think I used to leave really late on Sundays to try to avoid it, but not much fun...

I see you are in Cheltenham same as me! I berth in Brixham which is MDL. They are all fantastic down there. We were at Port Solent for a while-not a patch on Brixham. Only problem is traffic around Kingskerswell sometimes but its easy to miss if you time it right. Takes about 2.5 hours average.

We were in Lymington for 3 yrs as well, and never found the traffic too bad, so long as you arrive after 9 pm Friday, and leave similar time on Sunday. Also leave M27 at jnc 3, not jnc 1. I've always found getting to Poole from M3 much more of a hassle.

I think I have sailed out of Brixham... that's the one with the marina tucked in the corner under a long outer harbour wall?

Isn't parking a problem, the harbour parking was full of holiday makers and we ended up in a small multi-storey?

Never ever had a problem parking. The marina car park is a neat multi storey built in an old quarry 5 mins walk from your boat. I think most holiday makers dont know its there! Great places to go from Brixham never been bored!
