re-commissioning our holding tank which ceased being used when the original Jabsco macerator pump seized solid!

I need a replacement pump.

Anyone know the difference (aprt from a brand label) between
This at £56 delivered as against
this at about £210

What do you get for the extra money?

Thanks in anticipation

They look the same! I have had many problems with these pumps. They do come to pieces very easily and I have found the problem is easy to fix. The impellor runs against a loose metal shield and I found 'crud' was getting behind the shield and reducing the clearance to the point that the pump seized. Clean all and it is back to life, you can get spare gaskets etc.

Jtwebb, do you think that before installing I could dismantle and epoxy (or otherwise fix) the metal shield in place to avoid this problem? I assume you mean you have had problems in general rather than with either specific model?

My concern is that whilst I could buy four of one kind for the price of the other, I dont really want to be replacing the pump every two or three years - especially as it is beneath a bench in the saloon!

Having said that I think a lot of the price difference is the cutting out of wholesaler, retailer etc.

we have had a 24v one connected to tanks of ca 130 gall for 20 years.

new pump chamber etc in 1992. 3 impellers

new chamber and wear plaltes etc parts on table to fit this year.

the secret is not to dry run for more than 30 secs. the real killer is hair as it packs on the plate and the macerator prongs. later ones have a simple kinife instead of the prongs.
