My old Seafarer sounder is making odd noises and seems to be giving up the ghost. I have also lost one screw (10,000 leagues deep) holding the spinner on my log, and that now survives only by the grace of a wonky repair. My plan is to replace both with a dual unit; but want to keep the original Seafarer depth sender and log "tunnel" ( i/d 35mm). Can anyone suggest kit that is compatable with this aim? Thanks.

I think you will find the NASA Clipper or Target units are compatible with the Seafarer depth transducer (which is what I assume you mean by a sender) and they have the added advantage of being cheaper. They do not come with the bells and whistles of some of the more expensive units though (in particular they do not have, I think, the smart little door trap that stops the water coming in when you remove the log transducer and they can’t ‘talk’ to each other ), so as always you pay your money and…….

Agree with flying spud a good budget system is the NASA CLIPPER range but the hole is don't quote me 42mm. Try http://www.allgadgets.co.uk.
Very happy with mine.
