Which jiggle (syphon) pump is the best? They usually have a tube with ball bearing type gadget in the end to pump fuel to start a syphon. Great for transferring fuel from Gerry cans.

If you have a good one please recommend the make and model.? I've been told some are magic, and others don't work at all.

I bought one from You Boat in Gosport at the weekend. Sorry can't remember the make but it was £7. Not as simple to use as the demo at the boat show would have you believe. It did work but I think there may be a knack to perfect before you will be really pleased with your purchase. I spilled less than with a funnel but my hands were covered in diesel. Job done but hardly a success.

Do you suppose a tube with an in line squeeze ball pump would be better at starting the siphon?

I use one, it works but as Laundryman says - you get diesel all over your hands. Here in Borneo, I've watched locals transfer 100's of gallons of petrol into their boat tanks by sticking a length of hose in the plastic jerry can, covering the opening with a rag and squeezing the jerry can until syphon action starts - very quick and easy!

If your hands smell of diesel then you haven't been using the gloves that most filling stations supply free of charge, have you?

The action used to start the jiggle pump can be misinterpreted when seen from a distance.
