Which is more better? S/V or S/Y?

In written form, I like the RN style of no-prefix, just VESSEL, preferably in small caps.

If I'm making a radio call where the type of boat is relevant (eg a traffic control centre dealing mostly with big ships) then I'll announce myself as "Yacht so-and-so", but I wouldn't use that prefix on paperwork or blogs or other places that Americans like to be S/Y so-and-so.

In my case, the simple reason is I'm setting up a website for my new boat (to add to the millions of others) and the boat's name is already taken as a domain.

Can you not get SYboatname.org or .com .co.uk .net .info?
quite a few to choose from

Because Brits are subjects of the crown and not citizens, than I would have thought that HMS would be more applicable than either SY or SV.
