Not sure what is happening here, I am sure I posted this question earlier on today, came back this evening and no sign of the thread /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Anyhow, back to the question: I have just replaced the propeller on my Jouet760 with a Radice folding propeller and would like to know what type of grease I should use for the propeller's working parts?

I don't think it's very critical as there is never any grease left when my boat is lifted out. Anything thick enough to stick underwater should do.

I used Blakes seacock grease on my folding prop for years (until I sold the boat) and it worked extremely well. At least there was still some left there at lift-out!

Thanks, would do if I had a FM; hence, I thought I would ask the collective wisdom, in all its forms... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I use Keenol on my Radice folding propeller (saildrive). Keenol has been taken off the market but Ramonol appears to be a suitable replacement.

A lithium based grease should be ok. Stuuf used for car wheel bearings seems to eb suitable; halfords were selling 500gm tubs for a bout 6 pounds the other week.

Alan.

another point on fitting folding props "having just aquired one from e bay" IS DO YOU USE LOCKTITE ON THE THREADS OF THE RETAINING PIN SCREWS. as i intend fitting at the first oppertunity

On the Gori instructions they require threadlock throughout, including the anodes, and supply a tube with new props.

have a 3 blade prop - never grease it - why should I when its all off within a week or two - i know because i tried putting on various types. Often launch and haul out between 2-3 weeks
