Our much loved Valsat 02L has given up the ghost, unless it can be fixed we are going to have to purchase a replacement. The difficulty seems to be trying to source a good simple fixed unit, we don't want bells, whistles & pictures!
Any help gratefully received!
Many thanks!

I would heartily endorse the Furuno over the Garmin. Better resolution on the track facility for anchor watch, and it doesn't switch off every time you start the engine...

Interesting about the switch off when starting engine ... surely that is dependent not on make / model of GPS but on the voltage drop when start button is engaged. If you have big enough batterys etc. to not drop so hard as most do - then you'll get away with it.
Full charged batts - I can have Magellan Meridien ... Garmin .... Lowrance - any of those stay on through start. But if not fully charged they do drop out ...

Thanks guys, but having contacted Mantsbrite (suppliers of the original Valsat) They have recon Valsat 2008 which will use exsisting wiring, aerial etc, so we are going with that. Many thanks for the replies.

Batteries are fine, and I moved the wiring to a more direct connection. We've a few guys who find this with the 128 and it never happened on the furuno even when the engine was groaning.
