hi all

when i got my boat a few months ago the 1st thing the wife wanted out was the fridge in the saloon as it was 13 years old it was a bit grubby to say the least she did clean it several times but it never met her cleanliness criteria

so i bought a cheapo thing from argos with some vouchers we had and its ok for winter whilst plugged into the berth but i want to put a decent 12v/240 one back in, the decent compressor type,

i have been searching on ebay and found the two below but can anyone suggest anything else or comment on either of the two i have found as too which would be best, the vitrifrigo one has a seperate cooling unit so not sure if this would be any good for a boat????

thanks again

The Waeco units seem a very popular fridge (we also have one on ours), reliable and most importantly a low power consumption when powered on 12V. Again the VITRIFRIGO unit you posted looks a good unit, bit higher power consumption and slightly higher price, so my vote would be for the Waeco.
Thankfully technology has moved on from the old designs of the "Electrolux" fridges which could flatten your batteries in 24hrs. :)

Shawn, we have the Waeco CR on Rafiki, and it works really well for us. I had to replace the thermostat a copleof years ago, £10 iirc.
Wine/beer always at the right temp :)
