Which desiccant dehumidifier?

We have a DD8L and it is very effective. My only criticism is that the drain pipe to dump the water into the sink does not seem to be 100% effective - if we leave it running for more than a week unattended, we often get back to the boat and find that the tank has filled up and tripped the cut-out. It does not matter too much to us - we use the boat all the year round, so it just means that it may not be running for a day or two. If you want to leave it running unattended for longer periods, it may be more of an issue.
I've found that too - I think it is very sensitive to exact horizontal base level when used with the drain pipe.

We have been using the DD8L Junior for the past 3 years all through the winter especially whenever we leave the boat...we have also carried out the filter modification....the main unit filters are not sealed that great and dust used to get inside which can in some cases cause blockages...their is a fix to overcome this issue using the filter bags from a hoover which you modify to use on the junior...ever since we did this it works flawlessly....there is a newer model now produced which apparently addresses this issue but I do not know what the overall feedback on that model is..

To fix this, it is necessary to make a small hole in the top surface of the hose just after it leaves the body of the unit; making sure that the hole stays open, ie remove a bit of material. Don't ask me why this works but it does.

Exactly - do this and it will drain for months unattended - its in the manual. Basically it drips into the pipe rather than pumps water out so will rapidly get an airlock unless its dripping into a pipe with an airhole above. Then the whole length of the pipe can be horizontal before the final drop into the sink.

Interesting! I'll try that this winter... Thanks!
