Re sbc's comments on the Nauticpath Europe NE chart + plus Lowrance.
First I entirely agree about chart quality navigationally it was excellent and without the odd hang up I noticed on the Navionics one.
Second on look and feel aspects. I used the plotter most of the season before finding out how to change the screen display to emphasise the difference between land and water. It was my fault but its the sort of problem that makes one unsatisfied.
Third - that particular plotter has been replaced by anotther with a higher number of pixels 640 by 480, a portrait rather than a square display and ( I think) a smaller overall display size. After a quick check at SBS I concluded I preferred the older one.
A Swede I met with a small Garmin (which I didnt like) said "At last! I know exactly where I am - all the time."
In the Swedish archipelagoes that is very comforting and the main reason for having one.
I do feel very strongly that the not very obvious differences between plotters and charts make a lot of difference to their value.
