Which blast.

Just purchased a boat in Suffolk. Looking to get antifoul removed, any thoughts on whether soda blast or sand blast, pro's and con's. Wanting to epoxy after removal.

I had mine soda blaster at Whitehaven a few years ago. It came up beautiful with a shine like new.

I understand that sand blasting is no longer done legally because of the risk of silicosis. There are many different types of media dependent upon exactly what is being removed and the substrate. Best to be guided by the contractor.

Agree, talk to your contractor. Our local contractor uses a recyclable medium and does GRP, steel, cast iron. If you are having the keel done and it is iron make sure you get the epoxy on straight away, particularly if you are Coppercoating.

Thanks, the keel is lead but will be getting epoxy layers like keel prior to anti-foul.

Lucky you. Lead is much easier to deal with apart from its other benefits
