Here in Haslemere we are currently blessed (?) with plenty of deep snow. Seems deeper than the 14" measured by Chris Robb. Taking a break from the endless task of digging out the drive, I decided to test some anchors for their snow-holding.
The 45lb genuine CQR certainly dug through the snow initially but tended to collapse on one side and then skid with little resistance. And this was with a truly horizontal pull of course- ie fell over flat on my back!
The much lighter Guardian / Fortress was brilliant, landing flat and then flukes digging in each time (my lawn may be well aerated in spring), to full holding.
The Delta is on the boat so unavailable for snow testing....
If I can retrieve my car tomorrow, should I try anchoring it stern-to or from the bonnet?
