Which 3M sealant?

Hi, anyone know which 3M sealant is best for inhibiting crevice corrosion?

Not sure about best but I've use 3M Cavity Wax Plus to good effect on my Land Rover Disco where rust was beginning to set in on the joints of some panels that were double walled, crimped and spot-welded over.

4200 if you want normal bond; 5200 if you want super strong. Both are polyurethanes.

if it's for bedding stainless onto have a search for using butyl tape to do this, easily removable, stays flexible and seals superbly..

I know that butyl tape has its fan club but I'm not a member. In my view it is engineeringly offensive in that its flexibility allows the fixings to be loaded in shear. Engineers seek to load them in tension only, with friction taking the shear load. And as said above, it oozes.

Fair comments I guess it depends on application as to what you are fitting.. non structural stuff wouldn't have an issue (apart from oozing which I have not read about but trust your assessment) I just made a note that when I get to bedding certain items I will use it, otherwise I have used polyeurathane, not silicon (a whole other debate)
