Roscoff. The landing for the Isle de Batz ferry.

[/ QUOTE ]Location correct - are you sure of the function? I have only sailed past it a few times, and wondered what on earth it is. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I've moored at exactly that point (and, by the way, anchored round the corner near the 'big ferry' terminal - but that doesn't seem available any more...). The moorings there are rather exposed (depending upon the state of tide), but Roscoff itself is well worth a visit....
... And yes, I've been through the passage south of the Isle of Batz several times, each time in a 18m ketch - and it never seemed to have the kind of vis that I would have liked there!
.... However, don't be put off by Tom Cunliffe's over-colourful description ("a rock-strewn hell-hole..." or something like that!) It is really quite an interesting channel, and very do-able to anyone who is able to maintain some level of attention for twenty-minutes or so (although I would recommend starting off with a fairly serious session checking the charts, and planning the waypoints and headings for the various sections of it...)
... a fabulous cruising area - that coast of Brittany...
You will know, then, what fun it is to go through eastward on a dark night with the spring flood under your keel /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
At least on the French coast at night, you don't have loads of house, traffic, shop lights. Black as hell, lights totally viewable. Dont get much fog at night...
