Where\'s the UK Miami/Ft.Lauderdale

Which area would you suggest to someone wishing to spend a few days in the UK looking for a used 25' (or so) sportboat?
I mean, aside from what can be found on the web: just the area where it's possible to find a wide choice of boats in flesh, within a reasonable driving range.
By heart, the coast between Portsmouth and Plymouth pops to my mind, but I've not been around there for many years...

The coast from Chichester to Poole will include a large proportion of the boats for sale in the UK, i'd guess almost half.

Is there also any marina/dealer in that area which you would particularly recommend?
You or anyone else who know that coast and its boating structures, of course.

Just a side comment but do you think there's any significant north/south divide in boat prices in the UK at this level, the way there is in the car market?

Don't really know for 25' boats. Essex Boatyards get a good press, and have an office somewhere near the Solent now, but i've never used them.

I've not really noticed a North/South divide, but our resident boats for sale experts, Nautorious and JRB, may know better.

I think Nick H has it correct on the geography. Beyond that, there is no one dealer or sales centre; you'd have to take a trip along that entire stretch. And the density of boats is nothing like as much as Ft Laud /Miami. Many single brokers/dealers will have <20nboats on site, and many will have zero. The exception, and biggest single dealer with lots of stock to walk around is www.essexboatyards.com, whose main site is in Essex, 100miles+ from the S. Coast/Solent area, but worth making a detour to if someone was boat-hunting

For that size of boat we have several different dealers.

In Scotland you have Prosser Marine in North Glagow, in the North of England you have Windermere with Aquatics and Shephards and Liverpool with Shephards as well.

In North Wales you Have Abersoch and Bluwater Marine in Pwelli area and are great and a few other dealers as well at Conway.

In the East/London area you have Essex Boatyards. They also have a place at Southampton.

But the two largest Displays are at Hamble Point Marina which have a lot of dealers including Monterey and Cobbs Quay Poole where there always seem a lot for sale through several brokers.

What you need is leg work in the UK!

Also several on the Thames at the likes of Gibbs...
