Where you going sailing at Easter?

I notice you have an Oyster Mariner. A friend of mine has one of those - serious yacht, nothing is going to fall off there!!!

Are you off on your travels on the Oyster?

Yes the Mariner is our vehicle of choice for this lttle trip, being launched on Friday after refit and new rigging is finished. Easter will be our shakedown cruise to see what breaks!!

Gravelines appeals to me but bit concerned about depth of water in the marina. We draw 2.15m and the guide suggests we will be in soft mud but my last experience of 'sitting upright in soft mud' as per guide book in reality meant a v uncomfy night at a jaunty angle. Appreciate your thoughts/experiences.

Boat being lifted tomorrow.

We draw 1.7 m and got into Gravelines easily with always 1.0 m beneath the keel at just before HW Neaps. The boat sat very comfortably in the mud, we were rafted alongside a race boat "Ville de Gravelines" and had a delightful walk around the town and a spendid dinner, only problem was that it was French Mothers Day and all the Restaurants were full of French mothers, three very smelly yachties who had been up sailing since 2am were obviously not what the French mothers expected as dining companions.

Gravelines is well worth a visit.
