Not that long ago when you had to do this when entering/leaving UK waters.
What's the poroblem with it? The countries officials just want to know where you are and where you are going. You are an un-invited guest in their country, it probably is for your own security-don't forget everybody who coast hops is a potential smuggler, or these days a terrorist.
When I was at sea I was boarded a number of time by UK coast guards as well as by the equiverlent in other EU countries. No prooblem they were always polit, just protecting their coast line as they are employed to do.
